The Books of Enoch peer into a creation story that has been hidden by the major churches of the world。Lumpkin's translation is clear and the notes are interesting。 However, the dense intertextuality makes this a difficult series of books to understand。 The Books of Enoch peer into a creation story that has been hidden by the major churches of the world。Lumpkin's translation is clear and the notes are interesting。 However, the dense intertextuality makes this a difficult series of books to understand。 。。。more

This book is packed with revelation。 It's not a quick read。 It's an excellent study tool。Recommend to readers who want to go deeper in the things of God。I borrowed a copy from a friend。 All views expressed are my honest opinion。 This book is packed with revelation。 It's not a quick read。 It's an excellent study tool。Recommend to readers who want to go deeper in the things of God。I borrowed a copy from a friend。 All views expressed are my honest opinion。 。。。more

Great book on the lost/forbidden religious text。 The writer not only translates at alters some of the text to suit a modern audience。 But he also accounts the history, symbolism and how it fits into various religious texts。Through Enoch one, you can't help but feel the symbolism is about man's utter greed and ignorance, kind of what we are seeing now, leads to damnation。 I'm not religious, however, they are mythology, and stories for a purpose。 Also, with global warming, they're not far from hit Great book on the lost/forbidden religious text。 The writer not only translates at alters some of the text to suit a modern audience。 But he also accounts the history, symbolism and how it fits into various religious texts。Through Enoch one, you can't help but feel the symbolism is about man's utter greed and ignorance, kind of what we are seeing now, leads to damnation。 I'm not religious, however, they are mythology, and stories for a purpose。 Also, with global warming, they're not far from hitting it on the head。As all religious text, the prose is just beautiful。 。。。more

Enjoyed reading this volume of Enoch。 The commentary and breakdown of the author helped as well to gain better understanding of the fallen angels, Niphilim, and about the line of energy from Enoch。 I appreciated how much this book overlapped with others I have been reading。 Very interesting and fascinating to read the different books of Enoch!

Research。 A great read。 A different level of spirituality。

This is a very interesting book。 It was not included in the Bible even though Enoch is mentioned in the Bible。 I found the commentary done by Ann Nyland made the text a lot easier to understand。 I was amazed at the information contained in these three books that are not contained in the Bible。

Scholarly + Readable for AllThis is written in plain English and easy to read and understand。 He explains where his information came from and how all of the source material connects。 The story itself was easy to read。 This is all the books of Enouch in their entirety。 Others claim it, but this is the only one that I have found to be true。

I learned a lot about ancient oral traditions relating to the Abrahamic religions。 The old books held sacred by some of the earliest Christian and Jewish sects shed light and contextual meaning to the religious texts we use today, including answers to questions I've always entertained。 Scholarly work。 I learned a lot about ancient oral traditions relating to the Abrahamic religions。 The old books held sacred by some of the earliest Christian and Jewish sects shed light and contextual meaning to the religious texts we use today, including answers to questions I've always entertained。 Scholarly work。 。。。more

Clearly very intriguing and thought provoking。 The book could use some heavy editing, both linguistic and general。

I was really surprised by the information I got from this book。 It does explain some questions I have after reading the bible, particularly that verse in Genesis regarding the "sons of God" part。 Still skeptical about the info though。 Anyways, I do wish there are more commentaries added。 I was really surprised by the information I got from this book。 It does explain some questions I have after reading the bible, particularly that verse in Genesis regarding the "sons of God" part。 Still skeptical about the info though。 Anyways, I do wish there are more commentaries added。 。。。more

The Book of Enoch is the best example of Joseph Smith's prophetic seership。 After completing his translation of the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith went to the Old Testament and received 2 chapters of revelation on the Book of Enoch in 1830。 The Book of Enoch is heavily referenced throughout the Bible and was considered scripture by the early Christian fathers; but, the Book of Enoch was later banned by such authorities as Hilary, Jerome, and Augustine because of its "curious character。" The Book o The Book of Enoch is the best example of Joseph Smith's prophetic seership。 After completing his translation of the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith went to the Old Testament and received 2 chapters of revelation on the Book of Enoch in 1830。 The Book of Enoch is heavily referenced throughout the Bible and was considered scripture by the early Christian fathers; but, the Book of Enoch was later banned by such authorities as Hilary, Jerome, and Augustine because of its "curious character。" The Book of Enoch was then lost until 1773 when part of it was found in Egypt; but, it took until 1800 for Sylvestre de Sacy to translate a few chapters into Latin。 It took until 1821 however for that entire portion of that Book of Enoch to be translated。 And, it wasn't until 1851 for the Ethiopian Book of Enoch to be found/translated。 Joseph Smith's translation happened in 1830。 The 1821 partial Latin translation of the Book of Enoch was the only available copy of the Book of Enoch that could have been available for Joseph Smith at that time; but, could Joseph Smith have had access to that partial translation? Not likely。 The 1821 translation stayed in Europe and "scarcely awakened a sensation。" And, when people did pay attention to it, they actively tried to discredit it。 Also, 1830 was a busy year for Joseph Smith。 There is no record of him having access to an obscure European translation of the Book of Enoch and even if he had access to the 214 Latin pages how would he have had time to reduce those 214 pages to two chapters while only including what today's scholars agree to be the most essential parts of the Book of Enoch all while publishing the Book of Mormon, founding the Church, sending out missionaries and dealing with persecution? It is incredibly unlikely that Joseph Smith had the Book of Enoch, was so incredibly accurate in his translation/selection of certain parts of the text (18 specific themes/events: such as the name Mahijah, etc。 all while some parts weren't even available to him because the Ethiopian Book of Enoch hadn't been found/translated, yet) all while publishing the Book of Mormon, founding the Church, sending out missionaries and dealing with persecution。 It is much more likely that Joseph Smith received revelation from God so as to produce the Book of Enoch。 1-10 Takeaways:1) NA1-10 Questions: 1) What is the story of the how the Bible was assembled? What is the best book describing the process? 。。。more

I must admit, I bought (Complete Books of Enoch 1-3) Because of the television program ( Ancient Aliens) They described the book of Enoch as an alien visitation and abduction, of Enoch。 However; after reading all three books。 I didn't find any evidence of aliens or religious hanky- panky。 What I ascertained。 Was a man who had a large Rubin sandwich and a couple of beer's just before bed time。 That resulted in one wild nightmare。 However; that's just me。 The books were well researched and written I must admit, I bought (Complete Books of Enoch 1-3) Because of the television program ( Ancient Aliens) They described the book of Enoch as an alien visitation and abduction, of Enoch。 However; after reading all three books。 I didn't find any evidence of aliens or religious hanky- panky。 What I ascertained。 Was a man who had a large Rubin sandwich and a couple of beer's just before bed time。 That resulted in one wild nightmare。 However; that's just me。 The books were well researched and written。 I would ask you to buy the books and draw your own conclusions。。D 。。。more

I received a review copy of this audiobook。 I have wanted to read the Book of Enoch for years out of historical curiosity。 I didn’t realize how complex that history was before listening to this book。 Lumpkin does a fine job giving useful commentary and context for the three books of Enoch。 The books themselves are fascinating, though as a believer I found 2 & 3 to be outright offensive theologically。 The audiobook is somewhat overproduced。 While I applaud attempting to distinguish narration/comm I received a review copy of this audiobook。 I have wanted to read the Book of Enoch for years out of historical curiosity。 I didn’t realize how complex that history was before listening to this book。 Lumpkin does a fine job giving useful commentary and context for the three books of Enoch。 The books themselves are fascinating, though as a believer I found 2 & 3 to be outright offensive theologically。 The audiobook is somewhat overproduced。 While I applaud attempting to distinguish narration/comments from the original text, the echo effect is distracting and unpleasant。 。。。more

WOW! this is a very long book。 It does make sense of the loss books of the bible。 Be patience reading, rather by Alexa/Kindle or Audible。 Very interesting in fitting with other books of the bible rather the old testament or new testament。 Also, talks about the astrology that fits into my way of thinking or reading。 As many think the astrology does not fit into the bible。 Many of the movies have come out of this book to many to mention。 Though this is only my opinion。

Normajean Slagel

I found The Book of Enoch to be very interesting。 It takes a small mention of fallen angels giants and the flood in the bible and details the accounts。 some believe it should be scripture in the bible。 Whether it should be or not, it is a full accounting of a tiny biblical mention。 Eye opening。

Enoch was the only man that never died。 God loved him so much he took him straight to heaven。 Knowing that and reading any other version of the Book of Enoch will make you truly cringe at this translation。

Lumpkin has put such an incredible and diligent amount of work into this! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Absolutely Fascinating I've been wanting to read this book for a very long time。 It is a part of Biblical history and definitely needs to be read by people who want to survive the upheaval that is currently occurring in our world today。 God loves us so much and Enoch gives us all Holy Direction (God's Holy Direction)。 Praise the Lord for this book!
